K9 Command

Learn a bit about my community project.

K9 Command:

K9 Command was a project which my good friend and colleuage Felipe Velosa a and I was asked to mentor. Essentially we were approached by local Secreast Middle School’s Robotics club to train and mentor the kids in Mobile Application Development. The project was for a stem outreach contest. The kids provided the idea, and Felipe and I took them through the mobile development process from concept to a final product. The idea was to create an iOS application that would assist disabled veterans who could not speak or hear. It provided the means which enabled them to communicate with their companions. The idea was to have siri speak recorded verbal comands. The iOS device would then playback the comands via connected blutooth speaker or internal speaker when bluetooth was not present. The kids went on to receive a golden ticket and avanced to regionals. They also received public attention for their project as the Naples Daily News wrote an article covering it. I could not have been more proud of them.
